12 Things to Do in the Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego
June 18, 2026
The Gaslamp Quarter is the beating heart of downtown San Diego — sixteen and a half walkable blocks of Victorian-era buildings, rooftop bars, restaurants, live music, and nightlife. Whether you're visiting for a Padres game at Petco Park, a convention at the San Diego Convention Center, or a long weekend in the sun, here are twelve things worth doing while you're here.
1. Brunch on 4th Avenue
Start the morning with daily brunch at Werewolf American Pub — served every day from 8am to 3pm. Benedicts, scrambles, breakfast burgers, and a weekend bloody mary bar. The corner patio at 627 4th Ave is one of the best people-watching spots in the Gaslamp.
2. Walk the Historic Architecture
The Gaslamp is on the National Register of Historic Places. Pick up a self-guided walking-tour map at the William Heath Davis House and look up — the cornices, brickwork, and original Victorian facades are easy to miss.
3. Catch a Padres Game at Petco Park
Petco is two blocks from the Gaslamp's south end. Pre-game or post-game at a nearby sports bar — Werewolf is a four-minute walk from the home-plate gate.
4. Karaoke Until 1am
Karaoke at Werewolf runs nightly from 9pm to 1am with a deep songbook, a great host, and a crowd that hypes every singer. Free to sing, no cover.
5. Happy Hour Hop
Werewolf's daily happy hour runs every afternoon with discounted craft cocktails, beer, wine, and bar bites. Pair with a couple of other stops on 5th Ave for a proper crawl.
6. The Convention Center & Embarcadero
If you're in town for a convention, the Convention Center is a 6-minute walk from the Gaslamp's south end.
7. Late-Night Eats
Werewolf's full menu runs late on karaoke nights — burgers, wings, and the brunch menu after 9pm if you missed the morning.
8. Live Music & DJ Sets
Check our happenings page for what's on at Werewolf this week.
9. Coffee on 5th
Daytime Gaslamp belongs to coffee shops. Werewolf serves espresso drinks all day.
10. Shop Local
Independent boutiques, vintage shops, and surf/skate stores cluster on G Street and Market.
11. The Best Burger in the Gaslamp
Ask ten locals where the best burger in the Gaslamp lives and you'll get ten answers. The Werewolf Burger has been on the menu since day one for a reason.
12. End the Night with a Sing-Along
End your night with a song. Werewolf's karaoke goes until 1am, the host is on the mic, and the room sings every chorus together.
